2 Alabama towns among ‘most hospitable’ according to World Atlas
Reading time: 2 minutes
Here in the South, we’re known for our hospitality. So when we heard that two Lower Alabama towns were called ‘most hospitable’ in the region, we had to let you know all about it. Keep reading to hear why World Atlas voted these places sweeter than your MeeMaw’s sweet tea – and our favorite ways to explore these friendly towns.
Orange Beach, Alabama
We know Orange Beach as a spring break destination – but it’s the locals who make the town so neighborly. From business owners to fellow beachgoers, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a local who isn’t glad you came out to their beach. And Orange Beach seems to be raking in the designations lately. Just yesterday, Southern Living readers voted Orange Beach the ‘Best Small Town’ and ‘Best Waterfront Town.’
Want to see that kindness in action? Here are a few events coming up in Orange Beach:
- Orange Beach Festival of Art: March 9 & 10
- Bama Coast Cruisin’: April 26 & 27
- Interstate Mullet Toss at Flora-Bama: April 26-28
Fairhope, Alabama
Originally founded as a single tax colony in the late 1890s, Fairhope’s populist founders wanted to make the quaint, bayside town a utopia of sorts. And maybe this distinction is a full-circle moment for Fairhope. A colony established by those who wanted everyone to feel welcome is now one of the most hospitable in the South.
Fairhope is a place you need to see for yourself. Here are a few events there you might want to check out:
- Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival: March 15-17
- Live at Five Concert Series: begins March 29
- Bay Area March Monthly Market: March 30
