As if we needed another reason to get excited about the Honda Battle of the Bands (HBOB), Alabama State University (ASU) alumni 2 Chainz will take the stage during the halftime show on Saturday, February 18. Keep reading for all the deets.
Paying it forward
Multi-platinum Grammy winning hip hop artist 2 Chainz will perform at the 2023 Honda Battle of the Bands. This is the first time the nation’s premier showcase for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) marching bands and dance teams will take place on an HBCU campus.

That’s not all
2 Chainz will be joined by fellow ASU alumnus and legendary comedian Rickey Smiley who will host the HBOB live event. Award-winning host, comedian, actress, author and Prairie View A&M University alumna Loni Love will host the event’s livestream.
ICYMI, the Battle of the Bands will showcase six HBCU marching bands—each chosen to show off their talents and dedication with high-energy performances for fans across the nation.

- Alabama State University
- Langston University
- Morgan State University
- Savannah State University
- Texas Southern University
- Virginia State University.
