216 traffic crashes during Lower Alabama winter storm

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) handled a total of 216 weather related traffic crashes during the winter storm that impacted the communities across central and southern portions of the state from Tuesday, January 21, to Thursday, January 23.
Historic snowfall in Lower Alabama
According to the National Weather Service, the snow that came to Lower Alabama reached a historic 11 inches. The City of Mobile broke a 130-year-old snowfall record.

State Troopers responded to 712 calls
In addition to the traffic related crashes, ALEA Troopers and Special Agents responded to an overwhelming 712 calls for assistance relating to traffic accidents and stranded motorists.
