Ultimate Frisbee, also known as Ultimate, is blowing up in Huntsville. The Huntsville Ultimate Club is a great place to start if you’re looking to get involved or try Ultimate. Here’s the deets on three ways you can start playing or watching.
1. Try Ultimate at a pickup game
Huntsville Ultimate Club hosts a pickup game of Ultimate every Wednesday night. From 5:30-7:30PM, you can lace up your tennis shoes, head to Lakewood Park and give it a whirl. Here, you’ll meet curious individuals, Ultimate pros and just about every one in between. There are no skill requirements, every one is invited to come out and have fun.
2. Join a recreational team
If you’re looking for a little more than a pickup game of Ultimate, join a team on the rec league. Huntsville Ultimate Club has countess recreational teams. These teams are open to all genders and all skill levels, but are restricted to members. Don’t fret, membership dues are $20 and can be done online. Rec league games are held Monday nights at Sandra Moon. The season is held August 30-November 8. Have some friends who are interested? Start your own team.
3. Get competitive
Have a competitive side? Me too. This league is open for all members to compete to be drafted in. Typically, the top 50-75 players will be able to compete, depending on the amount of teams for the season. If you are not selected, you’ll be invited to play on a rec league team or refunded your membership dues. The competitive league games are held Thursday nights at Sandra Moon. The season runs September 2-November 11.
