As the resident beach bum on the team, I know a thing or two about beach bars. So, too, does Southern Living. They’ve compiled a list of 18 of the best beach bars in the South—four of which are right here in the Yellowhammer State. We’ll tell you all about which four bars made the shortlist and why you should pay them a visit. Oh, I almost forgot to mention—you can bring your pup to all these spots!

The Pink Pony Pub in Gulf Shores is hard to miss! The team there has been slinging drinks in their perfectly pink parlor since 1956. Their beachfront bar serves fresh seafood and yummy drinks with a fabulous view of the gulf (& the sunset!).

How to even introduce a legend? Flora-Bama is a legendary bar on the Alabama (and Florida) Gulf Coast with huge yearly events like the Mullet Toss and live music most weekends. It’s the perfect place to hang out for an afternoon. You’ll be fed, libated & entertained—for sure!

A relatively newer spot on Orange Beach, The Gulf has been serving up yummy seafood in Orange Beach since 2012. The menu changes daily to prioritize the freshest seafood, so you never know what you’re going to get.

Pirates Cove in Elberta

Elberta doesn’t get a lot of recognition in the beachfront game, so we’re happy to see Pirate’s Cove make the list! This Pirate-themed dive bar specializes in pizzas, bushwhackers & good times by the water.
