4 reasons you should visit Sheffield, Alabama this summer

There are plenty of beautiful spots in North Alabama but you can still find plenty of hidden treasures on your travels along the Tennessee River. Next time you’re driving through, make sure to add the city of Sheffield to your list of stops.

1. Sheffield has a rich music history
Are you a big music fan? Well you’re in luck. Sheffield has a very rich music history, with two famous recording studios located in this small town. The Muscle Shoals Sound studio is located in Sheffield, this studio was founded by four musicians in the 1960’s known as “The Swampers”. Cypress Moon is also located here, this recording studio is known for many famous musicians recording here and it is still in use today. There are also plenty of other places around town to get your fix on the music history of the shoals. Such as:

- The Singing River Sculpture
- Earl Peanutt Montgomery’s Music Museum
2. Located on the Tennessee River
This small town is nestled in the perfect location for outdoor activities. Sheffield is located along the beautiful Tennessee river, with plenty of places to take in this perfect view. Riverfront park, alongside the river, offers plenty of river views, walking trails, picnic tables, a playground & water access.
Another great location for river views is the Old Railroad Bridge, located at the Tennessee Valley Authority Reservation. This bridge is over 200 years old, dating back to the 1800’s and is the oldest remaining bridge in Alabama.
3. Known for many historic homes & buildings
Sheffield is a small town with a lot of history, aside from the historical music scene, Sheffield also has three historic districts with unique stucco and terracotta bungalows and Victorian- era buildings. Walking around these historic districts is the perfect activity for a warm sunny day in Sheffield.
4. Lots of Restaurants & Shops
