There are so many talented and unique artisans in Auburn, Alabama. From items you can wear and hold to things you can burn and eat- these artists really caught our eye with their craft. We have highlighted 5 talented local makers in the area to support and follow (in no particular order)!

1. Auburn Market

If your closet & jewelry box need a dash of color or some added excitement, then you have got to check out Auburn Market. These 2 Auburn University graduates sure know what they are doing when it comes to style and trends. They started the business right here in Auburn, and they have been thriving ever since with curated pieces and creative collections.

2. Auburn Candle Company

Auburn Candle Company is definitely a local Auburn favorite, and they have a pretty neat story. The couple, both only 28 years old, opened up their storefront a week before the shutdown last year. These two poured their life savings into opening up this store, and they stated: “It was difficult. It was kind of scary. Were we going to be able to survive, you know? A lot of sleepless nights.”

This is the kind of stuff that makes local makers so special and worthy of supporting. They are now running a very successful small business where you can buy one of their pre-made candles or come make your own with them. They have 20 signature scents and 85 scents for you to play around with yourself. They have made a beautiful space to create, and in regard to the struggles they faced with COVID-19, they say: “It was a blessing in disguise. It pushed us to be more creative and do things we never would have done on our own.

This small batch potter is inspired by nature and all the things she loves! Little Acorn Pottery is an earthy and beautiful small business run by an Auburn local artist named Jana Jennings. These are the perfect little accessories for any home. I know I personally love something even more if it is miniature, like these handmade masterpieces. I discovered her at The Maker and The Merchant.

4. Hornsby Farms

These local makers are a family on Hornsby Farms, in Auburn, that make delicious creations. Everything they make uses ingredients from their own homegrown produce. Our personal favorite is their amazing pepper jelly, but you can’t go wrong with any of their goods. Some things just taste better when they are locally made.

5. Beaded By Meg

Meg is an Auburn University student with a knack for making jewelry. Auburn sure looks cute in these photos, but she looks cuter (especially with her handcrafted beads)! Spice up your style with her bold designs, you won’t regret it.

If you’re from Auburn, and even if you’re not, go check out and support these local makers! This list highlights just a handful of local makers in the area that make this town so full of beauty and art, so get out there and explore all that they have to offer.
