Students are flooding back to the University of Alabama for the fall 2023 semester, and all that unpacking is sure to make them hungry. These 5 new and coming-soon spots in Tuscaloosa will satisfy all the cookie cravings and late-night munchies this fall and beyond. Let’s check them out.

1. We Dat’s Chicken & Shrimp Tuscaloosa

One of the newest additions to The Strip is We Dat’s Chicken & Shrimp, a Cajun restaurant. According to Visit Tuscaloosa, JaMychal Green, a former Crimson Tide basketball player, is the one to thank for bringing this New Orleans favorite to T-Town.

2. The Original Hot Dog Factory

Serving up over-the-top loaded hot dogs, The Original Hot Dog Factory opened their doors in Tuscaloosa in July 2023. With flavors like the Frito Pie Dog, the Hawaiian Dog and the Boston Dog, their menu is one to explore.

3. Jack Brown’s

In 2021, Jack Brown’s Beer & Burger Joint was named the best burger in Alabama by Far & Wide—and for good reason. With locations already open in Huntsville, Birmingham and Auburn, Tuscaloosa is the next stop.

4. Chip Cookies

While Chip Cookie Co. has been tight-lipped about their first Alabama location, we do know that they estimate a September 2023 opening. According to the Tuscaloosa Thread, the gourmet cookie business will be located in Midtown Village.

5. Moonshot Creamery

When Moonshot Creamery opened this summer, we got pretty excited. What’s not to love about a small-batch, creative ice cream shop? Plus, it features a wine cave (for the 21+ crowd, of course).
