6 sophisticated nightlife spots to check out in Auburn & Opelika
The word ‘sophisticated’ might not be the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of the Auburn-Opelika area. In a place most known for being a college town, it might be hard to find the more refined spots. But they are here, and we have found and highlighted 6 very sophisticated spots to enjoy nightlife in the Auburn-Opelika Area (in no particular order).
1. Ampersand Wine Bar
First up, we have Ampersand Wine Bar (my personal favorite)! Nelson, the owner, has created one of the most beautiful spaces I have ever seen with a great atmosphere to enjoy wine or a cocktail. He has the largest by-the-glass selection in America and has travelled far and wide to perfect his wine knowledge. You can make an appointment to come have an experience at Ampersand with just yourself or a group, and they even do fun themed events sometimes. The best way to reserve a spot is to message him on Instagram or their website.

2. 3:23 Cigar Bar
3:23 Cigar Bar is for the sophisticated men and women out there who want to come and relax with premium cigars, specialty wines, and top notch liquors. It is an Auburn favorite for a reason and definitely a unique option. With the clocks all set to 3:23 (the exact time the owner met his wife), it is always happy hour here!
3. Avondale Bar and Tap Room
Avondale Bar & Tap Room sits in the heart of downtown Auburn, but you might just miss it walking by. You have to enter a small side door and head up the slim staircase to get into this dark and mysterious bar. Enjoy literally any type of libation here with a perfect view of downtown Auburn.
4. Wittel Rooftop Bar
Named after the historic girls dormitory, The Wittel Rooftop Bar sits on top of the Collegiate Hotel right off of Auburn’s campus. With its eclectic boutique hotel feel and fancy drinks, this one is hard to beat. Take your friends here to watch the sun set over Auburn and enjoy a cocktail together. We recommend the AU-BEES Margarita.
5. Eighth & Rail
Eighth & Rail is the perfect spot for a more polished night out! With live music every night and great drinks to pair with your sushi roll of choice, what could be better? It sits right in the heart of Historic Downtown Opelika and has a romantic, intimate feel to it.

6. Sneak & Dawdle
Sneak & Dawdle is as cool as it sounds, being Opelika’s very own speakeasy! You will feel like you have stepped back in time as you walk in here. Each little area is separated by luxurious curtains so that you can have a private moment with whoever you choose to share your libations with.
