1. Bella’s Fine Dining in Dothan
Originally built in 1937 as a JC Penny’s, Bella’s in Dothan is a haunted hotspot. Although most people aren’t aware of its haunted happenings, the staff and owner Robin LaCour are very familiar with the ghost they call Rachel.
Rachel’s presence may be attributed to a woman in the 1950s who lost her life on the third floor of the building.
However, Robin has never felt any negative energy from Rachel and finds her endearing.
“I’ve always felt that Rachel is very protective of me. She smells like White Diamond perfume and has even turned on the lights on for me.”

Bella’s is also home to the Maison De Rousse Speakeasy, where a man has been seen in the mirror of The Bourbon Room.
Additionally, in The Wine Room, a knife blade can be seen glistening high above in the rafters. Interestingly, the staff have no idea where it came from and how it could have appeared there.
Here is some of the paranormal activity Robin and Bella’s staff have encountered:
- Plates falling
- Doors slamming shut
- Sound of footsteps
One day, when Robin checked her security footage, she even encountered a ghostly orb flying by the camera.
Bella’s Fine Dining is currently closed, but plans to reopen soon. However, Maison De Rousse Speakeasy is open and worth the trip for the elegant atmosphere and unique history.
