Airing Of The Quilts In Gee'S Bend
(Airing of the Quilts Festival)

The Freedom Quilting Bee Legacy is holding a three-city tour this spring to celebrate the artistry and history of the Gee’s Bend Quilters.

.”The Airing of the Quilts Festival Awareness Tour” will stop in Montgomery, Birmingham and Mobile in an effort to build momentum for the annual festival in Gee’s Bend on Saturday, October 4

Treasured Alabama art

A tradition that dates back to the 19th century, Gee’s Bend quilts have been handmade by the women in an isolated African-American community along the Alabama River near Selma for generations.

The special tour will showcase the world-renowned Gee’s Bend quilts and a live quilting demonstration.
