Reading time: 3 minutes
The NCAA baseball tournament bracket is set and while many people thought Alabama was on the bubble after an SEC Tournament loss, the stress during Monday’s selection show did not last very long.
The Crimson Tide’s strength of schedule spoke for itself and the team earned a No. 2 seed in the Tallahassee Regional. Alabama will travel south and begin play Friday night.

Tallahassee Regional
Alabama is making consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a decade. After making the Super Regional round last season, the Crimson Tide will be looking to make back-to-back Super Regional trips for the first time in program history.
Florida State got the #8 overall seed in the tournament and will host the regional. This week will feature a double-elimination bracket with the surviving team moving on to the Super Regionals.
Here’s the full schedule for Friday in Florida:
- Game 1: Florida State vs. Stetson, 11AM
- Game 2: Alabama vs. UCF, 5PM
Saturday will feature the first elimination game + the first semifinal. Another elimination game will be held Sunday with the winner heading to the regional championship.
This is Alabama’s fourth trip to play in a Tallahassee Regional after playing there three times between 2010-2014.
The Crimson Tide has not made an appearance in the College World Series since 1999. The program has never won a national championship.
SEC well represented again
Alabama is one of 11 SEC teams to make the NCAA Tournament, which sets a new record for most representatives from the same conference in a single season.
SEC teams in the tournament include:
- #1 Tennessee
- #2 Kentucky
- #3 Texas A&M
- #5 Arkansas
- #7 Georgia
- LSU (2 seed)
- Mississippi State (2 seed)
- Vanderbilt (2 seed)
- Alabama (2 seed)
- South Carolina (2 seed)
- Florida (3 seed)
It’s the first time in NCAA baseball tournament history the top three seeds are all from the same conference. The SEC has won the last four College World Series titles.
