Alabama dog saves fawn in heroic rescue at Lake Martin
Reading time: 2 minutes
Move over Lassie, there’s a new hero in town. Harley the labrador retriever is wowing the internet after saving a fawn from the waters of Lake Martin in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Here’s what happened during this tale of two tails.
According to the original Facebook post by Harley’s owner, Ralph Dorn, “I couldn’t find Harley this evening until I looked out on the lake. He was near the middle of the lake herding a little fawn back to the shore line. Not sure how the fawn got out there, but Harley obviously didn’t ask why, he just jumped into action.”
I don’t know about you, but the dogs I see typically spend a lot more time chewing slippers than rescuing innocent animals. So applause are definitely are must for Harley.
After the rescue, the pair parted ways when the fawn was reunited with its mother.
The Tale Continues
The morning after the rescue, Harley alerted his owners to the sound of the fawn bleating outside. When let outdoors, Harley rushed to the rescue once more. No, the fawn wasn’t in danger again. Instead, he just wanted to see his hero and new best friend.
According to the Facebook post, Harley found his starstruck admirer in the trees nearby. After the duo booped noses, the fawn stopped bleating and began to wag its tail.
