As the game of soccer continues to grow across the country, World Cup watch parties seem to grow with it.

The sport’s biggest tournament brings people together in bars, restaurants + streets across the country to watch the United States play on the world’s biggest stage.

That theme has been true here in Alabama at least as watch parties have grown throughout the first three weeks of the tournament. The biggest turnouts so far came Wednesday night when the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32.

While winning will always bring more people together, it helps to have a personal connection to this year’s team as Alabama native Chris Richards is a staple in the USMNT’s starting lineup.

Check out some of the sights from watch parties across the state + make sure to find one for yourself for the Round of 16 game Monday night at 7PM.
