The duo met in Nashville and have been playing together for less than two years but their stage presence certainly made it seem like they have been performing together for decades.

They played their own original song titled “Sweet South,” getting a standing ovation from most of the crowd plus judge Mel B.

“I want to be friends with you guys. You seem like really nice people to hang out with, like really down to Earth… you brought the fun. I loved it so much.”

Howie Mandel called the performance “real Americana.”

However, Simon Cowell had to stay on brand, saying the song sounded like one of those popular restaurant commercials… but not necessarily in a bad way.

“It would be a great Cracker Barrel commercial. You practically said the whole menu… if i heard that, I actually probably would want to go to the restaurant. That’s what a good commercials does.”

At the end of it, all four judges gave the duo a yes, sending Butter & Grit into the next round on America’s Got Talent.

The live shows are scheduled to start in mid-August with the finale slated for Sept. 23. All episodes air on NBC and can be streamed next day on Peacock.
