Alabama singers survive latest cut on America’s Got Talent

This week, a pair of musical acts with ties to Alabama discovered their fate for the next round on America’s Got Talent.
Pynk Beard earned an automatic qualifying spot for the live shows which begin Aug. 18. Meanwhile, southern rock duo Butter & Grit will have one more chance to impress the judges enough to join Pynk Beard in the quarterfinals.

Pynk Beard advances to live shows
Pynk Beard got one of 28 automatic bids to the live shows, impressing the judges during the audition round with a performance of his original song “Mine, Lord Willing.”
Pynk Beard’s performance earned a standing ovation from the crowd and unanimous praise from the entire judging panel:
“Wowza! I just wanna say, this is not my normal, go-to music, but you made me fall in love with this genre of music. I love you all! You made me feel really happy. I love everything about this.”

“Loved it, loved it, loved it! That was a perfect audition. Your voice is amazing, the song was amazing, your band is amazing. The energy, the joy that you bring the people is amazing. All of it was what AGT is about.”

The singer/songwriter will have his next AGT appearance on Aug. 18 when the live shows begin. The field will quickly narrow as the champion will be crowned during the season finale scheduled for Sep. 23.
Butter & Grit remain in the competition
Montgomery native Laurel Taylor and her partner Luke were not have been selected to advance to the live shows… at least not yet.
Butter & Grit will have one more chance to impress the judges as the duo was chosen as one of 23 acts for the “Judges’ Callback Round.” The singers were brought back by judge Mel B. who was the duo’s biggest fan after the audition round.
“I want to be friends with you guys. You seem like really nice people to hang out with, like really down to Earth… you brought the fun. I loved it so much.”

Only 16 of the callback performances will make it to the live shows. The performances will be held across two episodes on Aug. 4 and Aug. 11, both airing at 7PM on NBC.
