Alabama stations awarded Emmys for weather coverage, specials + more

Emmy Awards aren’t just for your favorite actors and actresses on television but also for your local news stars.
Alabama is filled with plenty of talent on and off the screen. This year’s Southeast Emmy Awards proved as much with several in-state stations walking away with one of the prized trophies.

Southeast Emmy Awards
The 2024 Southeast Emmy Awards were held in Atlanta on June 15.
The regional awards cover news stations from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and Asheville, North Carolina. It is one of 19 chapters throughout the country celebrating television excellence at the local and regional level.

Southeast Student Production Awards
Earlier this year, the Southeast Student Production Awards were announced by the Southeast Emmy board.
Central-Phenix City student Mia Bell’s 7-minute film “Something More Than Yourself” captured the journey of the school’s flag football team. The video won the High School Video Essay category at the SouthEastern Emmy Student Television Awards in Atlanta.
