On Thursday night, the Crimson Tide extended its record streak of 17 straight years with a first round pick in the NFL Draft. But that wasn’t the end of the weekend festivities for Alabama fans.

The first name off the board during day two of the draft was quarterback Jalen Milroe. Former Alabama star Shaun Alexander came out to the podium to announce the Seattle Seahawks selected Milroe with the 92nd overall pick.

Milroe becomes the 17th Alabama quarterback drafted + first since Bryce Young was selected first overall in 2023. He was the latest selection for an Tide QB since AJ McCarron was chosen in the fifth round of the 2014 draft.

“He’s going to give the Seahawks an element of offense that nobody else in this draft can give anybody. This guy is fast, he’s explosive. He can throw the ball, he’s got a strong arm. He’s a great deep-ball thrower, he just needs a little refinement and consistency in the passing game.”

Jalen Milroe

Milroe spent four years in Tuscaloosa, starting at quarterback + being named a permanent team captain in his final two seasons.

During his career, Milroe had:

  • 21-6 overall record as a starter
  • 6,016 passing yards
  • 45 passing TDs
  • 1,577 rushing yards
  • 33 passing TDs

Milroe was the fourth quarterback selected in this year’s draft + second from the SEC behind Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.

“Despite starting two seasons at Alabama, Milroe is still an inconsistent passer with 39 touchdowns and 17 interceptions over that span. His 2024 season was particularly underwhelming, but he still showed how dangerous he can be as a runner on tape. His burst and vision make designed quarterback runs difficult to defend in the red zone and short-yardage situations. He rushed for 20 touchdowns and 726 yards in 2024. Through the air, Milroe can drive the ball into tight windows over the middle and outside the hashes. He drops the ball into the basket for his receivers downfield.”

2025 NFL Draft

While Milroe was the first Crimson Tide player selected Friday night, he was not the first player with in-state connections to be drafted.

Former Pike Road star Quinshon Judkins followed up his national championship season by being selected 36th overall by the Cleveland Browns. He was the third running back off the board.

“Judkins gives the Browns a big back who can replace (Nick) Chubb, allowing Jerome Ford to excel in the No. 2 role. Judkins will help set up Cleveland’s play-action package and aid a team that struggled in third-and-short situations last season.”

Former Sparkman standout Caleb Ransaw was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round. The cornerback out of Tulane went 88th overall.

Friday will include the second and third rounds of the 2025 draft while the remaining four will take place Saturday, starting at 11AM.
