For the first time since 2002, Auburn’s season opener on the football field will not be played on a Saturday.
The Tigers will start the 2025 season with a trip to Baylor, a game that has now been moved to Friday, August 29. The official kickoff time and television coverage will be announced closer to the start of the season.
This will be Auburn’s first non-Saturday regular season game since a 2015 win at Kentucky. It’s the program’s first Friday game since 2010 when Cam Newton led a comeback win in Tuscaloosa the day after Thanksgiving.

The game will mark the fifth all-time meeting between the Tigers and Bears, and first since 1976 in Auburn. The two schools played in Waco in 1975. Baylor leads the series 2-1-1.
Auburn last opened its season on a weeknight in 2002, losing at USC. That was also the last time the Tigers opened a season with a true road game.
However, the Tigers have won their last four non-Saturday games during the regular season, all of them on the road.
Since 1980, Auburn holds a 12-6 record in regular season games on a weekday. The Tigers are 2-3 in weeknight season openers during that span.
Auburn has won eight consecutive season openers, last starting a year 0-1 in 2016.
