NEW: 2 Bitty & Beau’s coffee shops coming to Auburn + Birmingham
Reading time: 2 minutes
Heads up, Alabama—Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, a nationally-recognized coffee shop brand, is headed to Auburn and Birmingham. Keep reading to learn more about the coffee shop that offers, “more than a cup of coffee.”
Get to know Bitty & Beau’s 👋
Bitty & Beau’s Coffee Shop advocates for the acceptance and inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Founders Amy and Ben Wright are the parents of four children, including Lillie who was born with autism and Bitty and Beau who were both born with Down syndrome.
To empower their own children and people with disabilities, Bitty & Beau’s Coffee employs individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The first location opened in 2016 in North Carolina, and since then, they’ve expanded to open over 23 shops across 12 states. Next up: Alabama.
Why it matters 🌟
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, over 80% of people with a disability were unemployed in 2021. While the employment rate of people with a disability is going up, there is still plenty of work to do—and companies like Bitty & Beau’s are helping to increase employment rates and advocate for inclusion.
If you check out Bitty & Beau’s social media, you’ll see just how much their employees love working there!
