Dothan’s new minor league soccer team gets name + logo

Dothan will soon join the list of Alabama cities with a minor league soccer team, as the United Soccer League announced last fall that the city was awarded a USL League 2 franchise.
Now the new team has an official name and logo. The Dothan United Dragons will begin play in USL League Two in 2024, the inaugural season for the up-and-coming team.

Here’s what we know about Dothan United:
- Dothan United will compete in the South Central Division in 2024, in the Southern Conference.
- They will play their home matches at Rip Hewes Stadium, a 10,000-seat facility in central Dothan.
- USL League Two regular season takes place during the summer from early May to mid-July.
- Each team plays a 14-match schedule against their respective divisional opponents, seven at home and seven away.

Minor league soccer in Alabama
Dothan will join Birmingham and Huntsville as cities in Alabama with minor league soccer teams. Birmingham’s Legion FC competes in the USL Championship level, while the Huntsville City FC competes in MLS Next (as a feeder team to Nashville’s MLS team).
