Exploring the Bama Theatre’s unique charm + its upcoming events

As the temperature drops, it’s a good time to check out what events the Bama Theatre has. With a rich history, the Tuscaloosa staple is a fun place to spend some off time on your Thanksgiving and holiday breaks.
How it Started
The Bama Theatre started with funds from the Public Works Administration, a program during the Great Depression to benefit employment and the community.
It was officially opened in Tuscaloosa on April 12, 1938.
Architecture
The architecture of the Bama Theatre is often something visitors note before they leave.
David O. Whilldin, the designer of the building and many other Alabama buildings, was inspired by Roman architecture for the exterior of the building. However, the interior was heavily influenced by the Italian Renaissance.
