Fairhope to start construction on Triangle Park soon—see the new name
Between Veterans Boulevard and Fly Creek in Fairhope, there’s a 72-acre plot of land soon to undergo major changes. Here’s the latest on Fairhope’s big new development.
What’s in store for the new Triangle Park
On November 13, the Fairhope City Council discussed Triangle Park, a project made possible after the City received a $1M grant in 2022. In the discussion, they renamed the park “Flying Creek Nature Preserve.”
According to the City of Fairhope, here are some of the features to be included in the project:
- Multi-use trails
- Outdoor classrooms
- Kayak/canoe launch
- Nature center
- Bird blinds
- Creek overlooks
- Informational/wayfinding signage
- Seating/rest Areas
In addition, seven acres will be preserved as a longleaf forest, offering native plants and wildlife an area to thrive.
Construction on Phase 1 starting soon
According to WKRG, construction will begin on Phase 1 of the Flying Creek Nature Preserve in the first quarter of 2024. Phase 1 will include the following:
- Multi-use nature trails
- Connection to the Eastern Shore Trail
- Outdoor classrooms
- Trailhead with informational kiosk
- Bicycle repair station
- Restroom pavilion
- Low-impact development parking area
Phase 2 will include construction of the nature center. These first two phases are expected to be complete in fall 2024. Phase 3 and Phase 4 will follow, completing the expansive features of the park.
