First indoor water park with a retractable wall + roof, Tropic Falls, coming to OWA in Foley, Summer 2022
Reading time: 3 minutes
While we already knew that OWA, an entertainment hub in Foley, was the place to be this summer, they’re kicking off the season with a sweet new addition. Hold onto your hats (and your tubes) because we’re bringing you everything that you need to know about Tropic Falls Indoor Water Park.
OWA’s biggest splash ever
As if OWA wasn’t exciting enough with a Tropic Falls Theme Park and Downtown OWA, they’re adding a new indoor water park in the mix. Get ready to meet Tropic Falls Indoor Water Park—opening Summer of 2022.
This water park will feature both an indoor section as well as an outdoor section, perfect for those hot summer days and the (less hot) summer nights.
Here are some features about this first-of-its-kind water park.
- 30,000-square-foot wave pool
- A surf simulator
- Private cabana rentals
- 11 water slides—6 for thrill seekers, 5 for family fun
- A lazy river
If that doesn’t sound impressive to you, how does a 65,000-square-foot retractable roof and sidewall sound? No need to sacrifice summer fun on a rainy day at OWA—this is the first of its kind in the United States, manufactured by Open Aire.
Looking to skip Netflix and watch a movie in the wave pool instead? Tropic Falls will feature a 48-foot LED screen perfect for movies and the occasional live performance.
In addition to all of the rides, Tropic Falls will feature Grub, a quick-service restaurant, and Libations, a tropical cocktail bar.
Foley’s biggest attraction
Located only 10 minutes from The Gulf, Foley is known for attractions like OWA. With a sprawling downtown filled with shops and restaurants, family fun at Tropic Falls Amusement Park and now Tropic Falls Indoor Water Park, Foley is the perfect way to spend a summer day.
In addition, it’s interconnected to Foley’s 16 state-of-the-art outdoor sports fields, Marriott’s Towneplace Suites and a soon-to-open luxury RV park. It will directly impact Baldwin County’s economic impact by $244 million, estimated by Auburn University at Montgomery.
Expected timelines
Good news for The Gulf. OWA started the hiring process in late February and is currently looking for talent in the Foley area. If you or someone you know wants to work for this state-wide attraction, check out their website. There are part time and full time positions available.
Expected opening is predicted for May or June 2022 and we can’t wait to kick off the season the right way. Once it’s done, it will be a 520-acre master planned destination resort. We can’t wait to dive right in.
