Florence City Schools has revealed its renovation plans for Braly Stadium, holding a groundbreaking at the site Tuesday, May 6.
The renovation will cost roughly $9 million and include updates to the:

- Locker rooms
- Weight rooms
- Offices
- Parking
The renovations are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Braly Stadium
Florence’s historic stadium opened in 1949 as the home for the University of North Alabama football team. The venue also hosted the Division II National Championship Game between 1986 and 2013.
But the Lions will soon get their own new stadium on campus and now the city + its school system will invest in Braly Stadium.
While a new LED scoreboard was installed in 2010, this will serve as the stadium’s first major renovation since 1998.
The stadium will serve as the home field for Florence High School + Florence Middle School. It will also continue to host some city events + youth sports.
There is no word on how the renovation process will impact games and events at the stadium through the end of next year.
