Down here on the Gulf Coast, we take our summertime holidays pretty seriously, and the Fourth of July is no exception! Between the fabulous Gulf Coast beaches and all the amazing events, it can be hard to pin down how to celebrate the birth of our nation. Well, we’ve got you covered with four different celebrations across the Gulf Coast for this Fourth of July!

1. Mobile Pops 4th of July Concert and Fireworks Show

Join the City of Mobile in their annual Fourth of July celebration! Mobile Pops, a volunteer community music group, will be playing a completely free (and very patriotic!) concert, starting at 7 pm and lasting through the extravagant fireworks show, starting at 9 pm.

We recommend getting downtown early, so you can find parking. Maybe even stop for a bite to eat at one of downtown Mobile’s awesome restaurants on your way.

2. 4th of July Celebration at OWA

  • When: All weekend long, starting Friday at noon and ending after the fireworks on Sunday!
  • Where: Downtown OWA, 100 N OWA Blvd, Foley, AL 36535
  • Cost: Most events are free to the public, some require registration or park admission to attend.
  • More info

OWA truly went all out this year, planning a full weekend of fun Fourth festivities. Most of OWA’s Fourth events actually take place in Downtown OWA, directly outside the park’s gate, meaning that they’re free to the public! Come over to downtown OWA for all sorts of fun—like Friday night’s showing of National Treasure, Saturday’s scavenger hunt for kiddos, and Sunday’s extravagant fireworks show!

This year will be OWA’s first-ever Fourth of July walking parade, led by Southwind, a Mobile marching band! You can even register online to join in on the parade, rather than just watching from the sideline. Whether you have kids, or you’re just a big kid, you’ll find something fun at OWA this Fourth.

3. Fairhope’s annual celebration & fireworks display

Much like the City of Mobile’s counterpart, the City of Fairhope will host its annual 4th of July Celebration, complete with the Baldwin County Pops Band performing before and during the fireworks. Beachside parking will be available until the lots are full, so get there early!

4. Gulf State Park Fireworks Show

Why not spend your Fourth out in nature at Gulf State Park? Hiking and spending a day outside seems like the perfect way to celebrate our great nation, especially if you top it off with a fireworks show at the very end! Gulf State park hosts over two miles of protected beachfront, including a learning center for kiddos, a lake with canoe rentals, and even a restaurant! It’s the perfect all-in-one Fourth of July day trip!

@TheBamaBuzz would like to wish you all a Happy Fourth of July and thank those who have fought and still fight for our continued freedom.
