A historic rail line through the heart of Andalusia is alive again.
The Pinsly Railroad Company has officially re-opened a short line railroad spanning 36 miles + connecting CSX in Georgiana to Andalusia.
Pinsly announced it assumed operations of the corridor in October 2025 but the return of train travel on the tracks did not happen until this week. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday after the tracks officially became active again Monday, Jan. 19.

This line dates back to the early 20th Century as part of the Alabama and Florida Railroad. Since 2011, it has been operated by the Three Notch Railway, LLC but it has been shuttered since 2024.
Local officials joined Tuesday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, speaking on the potential of economic development that comes with the return of the line.
The line runs alongside Highway 31 and Highway 55 between Georgiana and Andalusia.
