Just a couple of months after Morgan Wallen brought his Boots in the Sand music festival to Gulf Shores, the local school system has announced the artist’s foundation has donated new percussion equipment for the high school band.

Gulf Shores High School has been named a recipient of the Morgan Wallen Foundation Music Education Grant. The school will receive $38,920 worth of new percussion instruments.

The donation includes new:

  • Marimbas
  • Vibraphones
  • Xylophones

“(These are) critical additions that will elevate the program’s performance capabilities and support student growth… Gulf Shores High School is grateful for the Foundation’s investment in music education and the lasting impact it will have on students in the Gulf Shores City Schools community.”

The grant is part of the festival’s give back program and it will be administered through the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation.

Gulf Shores High School improvements

The school district broke ground on a new building last year which is expected to host students by Fall 2026.

The city hopes the $137M project will provide a state-of-the-art high school for students in the area. That includes upgraded facilities for the marching band including a covered practice field and a Hangout Music Lab.
