High pollen count covers nearly all of Alabama
Reading time: 2 minutes

We’ve had spurts of spring over the last couple of weeks as temperatures have reached the 80s across Alabama with plenty of rain and storms mixed in.
This week marked the first time in 2026 we’ve reached a high pollen count across a majority of the state.
According to Pollen.com, nearly the entire state is considered to be in the “high pollen count” zone which is registered as at least 9.7 on the commonly-used 12-point scale.
The only areas not in the red zone include the northeast corner and a sliver of the western portion of the state north of Tuscaloosa.

What comes next?
You may be thinking more rain and the incoming cold weather could be good for the pollen but it’s likely not going anywhere anytime soon.
According to The Weather Channel, the allergy alert will remain “very high” for at least the next 15 days across Central Alabama and in much of lower Alabama.
Along the coast, the allergy alert could rise even more next week.
