Hope Hull native Ella Langley breaks Mariah Carey’s record on Billboard Hot 100

Only one song has ever topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 23 total weeks.
That distinction belongs to “Choosin’ Texas” by Ella Langley which set the new record this week. The Alabama native broke the previous record of 22 weeks which was held by Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” a song that is expected to top the charts again come holiday season.
But for now, Langley sits alone as the record holder.
The news comes just two weeks after Langley tied the record for most CMA Award nominations for a female artist in a single year which included three nominations for her hit song.

“Choosin’ Texas” debuted on the Hot 100 back in November 2025. The song was Langley’s fifth career entry on the chart but it quickly became her most successful, making the top 10 in January and taking the No. 1 spot in February.
The hit rewrites the record for the longest run ever achieved atop the Billboard Hot 100 as it scores a 23rd week at No. 1.
It’s the only song to ever top Mariah Carey’s perennial “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which has topped the chart each season since the classic 1994 carol debuted in 1994.
So Langley may need to tack on a few extra weeks if she wants to hold the record at the end of 2026 but she is riding the high for now.
“It feels surreal. I think this has been the biggest moment for me, where I’ve seen where fans can change your career. For so long, you’re like, ‘Alright, one song at a time, one record at a time.’ But with this one song — and they’ve done it continuously for me — but really with ‘Choosin’ Texas’ … man, have they taken ahold of it. It’s wild.”
