It’s a sound that is music to every Crimson Tide fan. Per tradition, longtime and beloved radio play-by-play announcer Eli Gold completed his final cancer treatments on Friday by ringing a bell.

Tom Tipe, a Crimson Tide Sports Network producer posted a video on Twitter showing Gold exclaiming “Roll Tide!” while ringing a bell, signifying the end of treatments.

Here is the tweet.

According to the sports website, fanrecap.com, Gold revealed during an interview with WNSP Sports Radio in Mobile that he spent a total of six months in different hospitals since falling ill last year.

As reported by The Bama Buzz, Gold announced he would miss the entire 2022 football season back in August. He was diagnosed in December with cancer.More than a football announcer, Gold has also broadcast NASCAR races and locally the Birmingham Bulls. He hopes to be well enough to call Alabama home opener against Middle Tennessee State University on September 2rd.
