On January 14th, 1973, Elvis Presley performed his legendary concert at the Honolulu International Center, which was also broadcasted live via satellite. A ninety-minute television special was produced and released in Asia, Oceania, Europe and the United States. After its release date in the United States, the television series, not surprisingly, became NBC’s highest-rated program of the year. Presley’s manager, Colonel Tom Parker, stated that β€œit is the intention of Elvis to please all of his fans throughout the world,” and that he did.

One of the most spectacular aspects about the concert was that it benefited the Kui Lee Cancer Fund. Apart from it being advantageous and entertaining, it also left a lasting legacy. Viewers of the production described it as sentimental, captivating and poignant. It’s safe to say that Presley put on an outstanding show that night for all of his fans around the world.
