It’s official.

Jalen Milroe will forego his senior season at the college level to enter the 2025 NFL Draft. The quarterback announced the decision on social media Thursday, two days after the Tide’s loss to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

‘Roll Tide forever’

Thursday afternoon, Milroe took to Instagram to announce his decision via a collab post with the Alabama football team account.

Here’s the full statement from the quarterback:

“First and foremost, I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for HIs unwavering grace, guidance, and the countless blessings in my life.

To my family, thank you for your unconditional love and support through every high and low. You’ve been my rock, my inspiration, and the reason I push myself to be the best man I can be.

To my teammates, my brothers, thank you for the blood, sweat and tears we’ve shared. The bonds we’ve built will last a lifetime. To Coach Saban, thank you for believing in me and instilling the standard of excellence in me. To Coach DeBoer, thank you for challenging me and helping me grow into the player and leader I am today.

To the entire Alabama family, thank you for embracing a kid from Texas and allowing me the honor of wearing the script ‘A’. Representing this university has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

Football has always been my passion, and since I was a kid, I dreamed of competing at the highest level. Through every win, every tough loss, and any criticism along the way, my love and dedication to this game has never wavered. Each day, my gratitude for the opportunity to play this sport I love only grows stronger.

With that said, I am declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft. Roll Tide forever!”

Milroe has been listed as a first-round pick in several mock drafts throughout the year but recent struggles have put him behind quarterbacks like Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward on big boards from CBS Sports and USA Today.

Still, some recent mock drafts have Milroe going as high as the fourth overall pick.

45 wins

Milroe stayed at the University of Alabama for four seasons, playing in 38 games including 26 starts over the last two years. He did not win a national championship with the Crimson Tide but in those four years, Alabama won 45 games including two SEC Championships.

In his career, Milroe accounted for:

  • 6,016 passing yards
  • 1,577 rushing yards
  • 78 total touchdowns

As a redshirt sophomore in 2023, Milroe finished sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting. The season also included the signature moment of his Alabama career — a 4th and 31 completion to Isaiah Bond to beat Auburn in the 2023 Iron Bowl.

Milroe chose to return to Alabama despite a coaching change, leading the offense again, this time under Kalen DeBoer. The offense struggled at times but Milroe showed glimpses of what he’s capable of, which is a big reason his draft stock is still high.

NFL Draft decisions

Milroe is not the only Alabama player to make a big decision since the season ended.

Linebacker Jihaad Campbell and punter James Burnip have both announced they will be entering the 2025 NFL Draft. Defensive lineman LT Overton posted he will be returning to Alabama for another season.
