No city in the country may have as strong of a relationship with a beetle species than Enterprise has with the boll weevil.

An infestation in the early 20th century was a blessing in disguise as it forced the area to completely adjust its economy, eventually becoming a national leader in the peanut industry.

And Enterprise remains thankful for that infestation to this day which is why boll weevil statues can be found all across the city limits.

The latest is called McWeevil Burglar, which was recently installed outside a new McDonald’s location on none other than Boll Weevil Circle.

The beetle version of the Hamburglar welcomes you to Enterprise’s second location. And it’s the second boll weevil statue with a McDonald’s theme, following the Ronald McWeevil statue that was installed in 2022.

And the McWeevil Burglar is already active on social media, quickly becoming the menace he was expected to be.

The newest statue is part of the city’s Weevil Way project, which installs the boll weevils at companies across Enterprise. The McWeevil Burglar is the 35th statue around the city.
