Each year, we see Mobile grow more and more—and now, it’s caught the attention of the national publication Forbes. In their recent article, “Top 10 Fastest-Growing Ports In United States Over The Last Decade,” Mobile came in second on the list. Keep reading for all the details.
Mobile by the numbers
Over the past ten years, the Port of Corpus Christi, Texas, was the fastest growing port city in the U.S., followed by the Port of Mobile in second. According to the report, Mobile’s trade more than doubled over the decade—a rare feat that only one other top-50 port accomplished. The other was Atlanta International.
With a 121.84% 10-year percent change, Mobile’s growth has been nothing short of astounding.
Its leading imports, according to Forbes, include:
- Oil (17%)
- Motor vehicle parts (8.5%)
- Miscellaneous aircraft parts (6.5%)
Due to annexation, Mobile also became the second largest city in Alabama in summer 2023. We can’t wait to watch the Mobile area grow even more over the coming ten years.
