New Buc-ee’s to break ground in Athens November 17
Reading time: 2 minutes
Buc-ee’s has become a favorite among Alabamians. We’ve got great news—Buc-ee’s will be opening another Alabama location in North Alabama. Read on to find out everything we know about this upcoming opening.
It will be located in Athens, AL
You can find a Buc-ee’s in Leed near Birmingham and in Loxley, a perfect stop on the way to the beach.
- Where? The corner intersection of Huntsville-Browns Ferry Road and Interstate 65
This Texas-based travel center will be a $35 million project and will bring 170 jobs to Limestone County.
What can you expect to see at the Athens location? 120 fuel pumps, a 250-foot-long car wash and around 60,000 square feet of retail space among the destination site’s amenities!
When can we expect the new Buc-ee’s?
This approved project is ready to get started. You can already see billboards with the famous beaver in the area. According to the Buc-ee’s website, the Athens location is coming 2023.
There will be a ground breaking ceremony this month—November 17 at 1PM. We hope to see you there!
A few items to look forward to
I’ve only been to the Leeds location once—briefly. So, I am looking forward to having a Buc-ee’s in my area.
A travel center this size may get overwhelming, so I requested the help of my friends, who are self-proclaimed Buc-ee’s pros (a few are from Texas—I’ll take their recommended buys as musts).
Here’s what they suggested for us, North Alabama:
- Fudge
- Breakfast burritos
- Hot sauce
- Pulled pork sandwich
- Banana cream pudding
- Beaver nuggets
They also always grab a t-shirt to rock some Buc-ee’s merch. Which item will you be trying?
