On November 9, Cullman broke ground on the new Omniplex Sports and Civic Center, a huge new development part of the growing Sports and Events District. Here’s what you need to know.

About the new Omniplex Sports and Civic Center

The new Omniplex Sports and Civic Center will be a huge, multifunctional facility on a 140-acre property in the growing Cullman Sports and Events district. Here’s what it will include when complete:

115,000 square-foot facility
10 tournament basketball courts
19 volleyball courts
5 soccer fields
6 indoor pickle ball courts
Indoor aquatic center
Space for recreational events
Catering kitchen
Breakout meeting rooms
Gymnasium with capacity for 6,500 people (large enough for concerts, expos, conventions, sporting events + more)

The facility is expected to be complete in late January 2025.
