NEW: Fur Baby University is a college-style doggie daycare now open in Alabama
Reading time: 2 minutes
A new university just opened in Wetumpka, Alabama—but it’s not your typical two- or four-year institution. Rather, it’s a spot for your pup to stay, play and learn. Keep reading for all the details on the new Fur Baby University.
The story behind Fur Baby University
According to The Wetumpka Herald, dog lovers Talyia and Chris Porterfield had kids enrolled at Auburn University when an idea struck. What if dogs had their very own college-style experience? Thus, Fur Baby University was born.
Switching out the traditional “doggie daycare” moniker for “campus,” Fur Baby University has all the traditional elements of a college—lockers, dorm-style rooms, “guidance counselors,” a kitchen for preparing special dog meals and more.
Services include:
- Doggy daycare
- Boarding
- Grooming
- Enrichment courses—including crafts, agility, music + command training
According to The Wetumpka Herald, the Porterfields hope to expand their concept to other college towns, allowing college students as well as locals to bring their dogs to campus.
