NEW: Lionel Richie nominates first-of-its-kind public park for Tuskegee

Hello? Is it a new park you’re looking for? Music icon Lionel Richie nominated a space to become a public park in his hometown of Tuskegee as part of the Lowe’s Hometowns community impact program. “Hello Park” will become the first public park of its kind available to residents in the community. Uplifting the community

Out of the 100 community projects to be completed nationwide as part of Lowe’s Hometowns, one stands in Alabama.

Launched in 2022, Lowe’s Hometowns is the company’s largest every community impact program—committing $100 million to revitalize and rebuild community spaces nationwide over the course of five years.

Each project selected receives a grant from Lowe’s to make physical improvements that help local organizations continue to make a difference in their communities. This year, Lowe’s Hometowns received a project nomination from a very special Alabamian.

About the park

Nominated for the program by Tuskegee native and music superstar Lionel Richie, Hello Park will be a beautiful outdoor space to gather, connect with nature and embrace the history of Tuskegee for future generations.

Located directly across from the Tuskegee University campus, the park is close by to Richie’s alma mater. The undeveloped plot of land will soon become a vibrant outdoor space for the community.
