Do you remember the freezing cold stretch that wouldn’t seem to go away at the end of January?

I know, you have to think hard to remember that because it feels like that was months ago as in Alabama-weather fashion, the temperatures have completely turned around in recent weeks.

According to reports from the National Weather Service, several spots around Alabama reached record high temperatures for Feb. 19.

February 19 record highs

The warm temperatures did not come as a surprise as there was a gradual rise to the spring-like heat levels.

But still, it was a little jarring to walk outside this week without the need of long sleeves or even a thin jacket. You could’ve been comfortable in shorts and flip flops on Thursday!

Here are some of the cities that registered record high temperatures for their highs and lows on Feb. 19:

  • Anniston: 81 | 63
  • Birmingham: 81 | 64
  • Florence: 79 | 61
  • Huntsville: 77 | 62
  • Montgomery: 83 | 66
  • Oneonta: 77 | 59
  • Tuscaloosa: 83 | 63

It was not just about how warm it got in these locations but also the lack of cool air in the morning or at night as most of the state did not get lower than 60 degrees + no spot recorded temperatures lower than 50.

What comes next?

Are you happy to see the spring-like temperatures? Have you been comfortable this week?

Well too bad because Alabama’s lack of weather consistency is back.

While things will stay warm through Saturday afternoon, freezing temperatures will be back by Sunday night. Here are some of the lows forecasted for Monday:

  • Auburn: 24
  • Birmingham: 26
  • Dothan: 32
  • Florence: 23
  • Gadsden: 22
  • Gulf Shores: 36
  • Huntsville: 22
  • Mobile: 29
  • Montgomery: 30
  • Tuscaloosa: 22
