As Black History Month approaches, Target has launched a collection of brands to celebrate through clothing, home goods, accessories and more. One collection, Gee’s Bend x Target, showcases the talent of local Alabamian women. Keep reading for all the details.

Gee’s Bend x Target is a part of Target’s Black History Month collection, which features Black-owned or designed brands. One of those brands is showcasing Alabama talent—The Quilters of Gee’s Bend. A sign on Target’s display tells the story of these incredible women:

“The Quilters of Gee’s Bend started with enslaved women in Boykin, AL began quilting in the 19th century. They reinvented the art form by creating abstract designs that had never before been expressed on quilts. These quilts were passed down over generations, surviving slavery, the Antebellum South, and Jim Crow.”

Now, their beautiful work is on full display in Target stores and online as a celebration of Black History Month.
