What’s Tennessee’s loss is Alabama’s gain. A beloved Southern restaurant hailing from Pulaski, Tennessee, is coming to downtown Athens, and it’s opening very soon. Here’s what you need to know about The Southern Table.

Relocating to Downtown Athens

In September, The Southern Table announced that they would be relocating to downtown Athens, Alabama. Here’s the details:

While they haven’t announced a specific opening date yet, we know they’re getting closer to welcoming guests to their North Jefferson Street location. In October, they did a “Welcome to Athens” tasting to benefit the Athens-Limestone Hospital, and they’ve been steadily hiring staff.

During their four years in Pulaski, The Southern Table garnered a lot of attention from Tennesseans and North Alabamians alike. When they announced their move to Athens, the local community was excited to say the least. Here’s why.

What The Southern Table is all about

Owned and operated by Pulaski native Ryan Yokley, The Southern Table is known for its elegant take on Southern cuisine. Here’s a peek at what has been on their menu in the past, giving you a taste of what to expect in Athens:

  • Shrimp + Grits
  • Chicken + Waffles
  • Heirloom Tomato Pie
  • Bacon Pimento Cheeseburger
  • Cast Iron Cornbread
  • Banana Pudding

Each of these Southern favorites has a twist, though. For instance, the shrimp and grits is made with garlic cheddar grits, roasted tomatoes, bacon and shrimp butter. The heirloom tomato pie has a cornmeal tart, roasted tomato vin, tomato gravy and mozzarella.

And we haven’t even touched on the drink menu. Their cocktail creations include the Mocha Honey Martini, Southern Sangria, Golden Hour and many more. In addition, their wine, bourbon, whiskey and beer lineups are impressive.

Needless to say, The Southern Table is a culinary gem, and we can’t wait to welcome it to North Alabama.
