In May, a devastating fire broke out in the Noccalula Falls animal habitat’s old barn. Unfortunately, as many as 75 animals died as a result. Although the fire’s origin is unknown, firefighters are confident that there was no suspicious activity involved.

Plans for the indoor animal habitat are still developing, but the outdoor area is now open to the public. You’ll probably notice several of the barn’s outdoor enclosures have been updated. This means you can still interact with all the cutest farm animals.

To celebrate the reopening, Frios popsicle owner, Destin Mince is giving away a popsicle to the first 100 visitors on Saturday, September 11. Not only is Mince handing out free pops, but he also donated the corner porch of the cabin pictured above to Noccalula Falls Park.

“We’d like to thank Destin for his wonderful generosity and support for the animal habitat. We’re glad to be able to reopen this part of Noccalula falls Park for the public to enjoy.”

Jen Weathington, Gadsden Parks and Recreation Director
