Randall Family Park and Trailhead at the Northern Riverwalk in Tuscaloosa has officially opened! The commemorative ribbon cutting ceremony took place on the morning of January 6, 2022. Read on for full details on this exciting development in Title Town.
Randall Family Park and Trailhead
Randall Family Park and Trailhead has something for everyone. The new project includes a park, trailhead, recreational path, playground, pavilion and parking area.
Construction began in February 2021, and the area is now open for the public to enjoy. Mayor Walt Maddox shared that the location at the North Riverwalk is especially significant to the Tuscaloosa community.
“Tuscaloosa has always found its soul by its river. The waters that flow through our city connect us, and what we’ve seen on the southern side of our river is that the Riverwalk is a place that brings our community together.”—Walt Maddox, Mayor, Tuscaloosa (via Elevate Tuscaloosa)
More to come
According to the City of Tuscaloosa, there’s more on the way. The Randall Family Park and Trailhead are phase one of the Elevate Tuscaloosa Northern Riverwalk project, in addition to over half a mile of Riverwalk path.
We have the Randall family to thank for this initial phase of the project. They donated 19 acres of land, valued at $2.72 million.
Don’t forget, Tuscaloosa residents also have the exciting River District Park and Saban Center on the horizon.
