Orange Beach approves $46M high school athletic complex

Orange Beach, one of the fastest growing towns in the state of Alabama, is building a $46 million athletic complex which includes a stadium that can hold up to 3,500 spectators.
Orange Beach Makos has a new home
The city council unanimously approved the project, which will be located on the Orange Beach Middle and High School campus, on October 18th.
The athletic complex will include:
- Stadium — The stadium’s grandstand will seat 3,500, and its lighting is LED. Restrooms and concession areas, plus a state of art Jumbo-Tron video board are included.
- Gymnasium— The Gym will seat up to 1200 fans for volleyball, basketball and wrestling. The facility will also be used for extracurricular activities.
- Kinesiology and Exercise Science Building —The two-story Kinesiology and Exercise Science Building will consist of classroom and meeting spaces, strength and conditioning facilities, a physical therapy room, cheerleading, wrestling, and football locker rooms, storage, wrestler and cheerleader practice areas, and coaching cubicles and offices.
- Track— The eight-lane track will encircle the turfed soccer/football field and contain a high jump, long jump, pole vault, javelin, and discus areas.
- Multipurpose Pavilion— The multi-purpose pavilion may be used for academic or extracurricular activities.
Construction to begin in November
Construction for the new athletic complex begins in November. The completion date is May 20, 2025.
