Pair of Alabama natives star in thrilling new season of HBO’s The White Lotus

If you spent the last eight weeks stressing over The White Lotus storyline like I did, you may have missed the Alabama connections to the hit show.
Two of the main characters from Season 3 of the show are from Alabama and both of them got plenty of praise for their performances throughout the season.

Sarah Catherine Hook
Sarah Catherine Hook graduated from The Montgomery Academy in 2013, already turning heads as a performer before ever leaving Alabama. As a senior in high school, she was selected as the Female Outstanding Choral Student by The Alabama Vocal Association.
She moved to New York for college, earning a degree from SUNY Purchase College. Singing seemed to be taking her places but she eventually got the bug for acting.
Hook told outlet Who What Wear about her audition experience for the show, which went more quickly than she expected.
“After an initial audition for the third season of The White Lotus—for which White is the sole creator, director, and writer—Hook’s first callback was surprisingly chill. ‘It was so casual, as if we were out getting lunch or something,’ she explains. Just the next day, she got the part, and there’s no doubt she was perfect for the role of Piper. They’re both Southern girls, after all.”
Who What Wear
Hook’s role in The White Lotus is playing the middle child of a wealthy family on vacation in Thailand. There is a deep dive into her search for her spirituality as well as her relationship with her two brothers and her parents.
While this could serve as a breakthrough for the 29-year-old, it’s certainly not the first show she has starred in.

Walton Goggins
Goggins, a more established actor, was born in Birmingham but his family moved to Georgia where he graduated from Lithia Springs High School, just outside of Atlanta.
Still, we have no issues with claiming Goggins as one of our own. He has shown off his acting range with roles comedies, thrillers, horror shows and more. His character in The White Lotus, Rick Hatchett, combines a lot of that into one role.
You’ve almost certainly seen Goggins either in a movie or in a TV series over the last three decades. Some of his more popular roles included:

The White Lotus
This is the third season of The White Lotus and while there are connections to the previous seasons, you may not have to watch the first two seasons to watch the new season with Hook and Goggins.
