It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the team with four people connected to the Central-Phenix City girls’ flag football team ran away with the inaugural NFL Flag Showcase at the 2025 Pro Bowl Games.

Players Gerritt Griggs and Natalyn Lumpkin, along with coaches Mitchell Holt and Troy Jackson, helped the NFC team claim a 28-0 victory Sunday afternoon in Orlando.

Griggs came away with some extra hardware, being named MVP of the winning team. You can watch the full game on the SportsCenter NEXT YouTube channel.

Gerritt Griggs

Griggs was named the first Miss Football in Alabama history after leading the Red Devils to an AHSAA state title + a national championship from USA Today. Next year, she’ll be in Tuscaloosa, playing softball for the Crimson Tide.

But before she made the change to the diamond, she got to hit the football field for one more game. This time on a national stage and she delivered a big performance.

Griggs ran for a touchdown on the game’s opening drive and threw another touchdown in the second half, tacking on four 1-point conversions to her total.

The Central-Phenix City star was featured throughout the week in Orlando and even got an opportunity to meet several NFL Pro Bowlers including former LSU receiver and current Minnesota Vikings player Justin Jefferson.
