Record $24.9B spent by Alabama tourists in 2025

The Alabama Tourism Department reported a record year in 2025, marking the fifth straight year of increased tourist spending in the state.
In its annual report, the department said nearly 30 million tourists visited Alabama in 2025, spending $24.9 billion in the state. That’s a nearly $1 billion increase from 2024 and a $12 million increase since 2015.
“Beyond these figures, tourism reflects Alabama’s rich identity. Its history, culture, and natural beauty, from some of the country’s most important civil rights sites to its white-sand beaches, mountains and river valleys, draw visitors from throughout the world. This combination of assets makes tourism a key driver of economic growth, supporting Alabama’s jobs and businesses, from hotels and restaurants to transportation and entertainment. In the process, Alabama tourism both showcases what makes the state unique and strengthens its economic future.”

20: As expected, Alabama beaches were leading the way but 20 total counties saw at least a 10% increase in travel-related earnings.
264%: Alabama has seen a massive increase in tourism numbers over the last two decades, reporting a 264% spending increase since 2003.
$1,448,929,922: The state reported nearly $1.5 billion in travel-related tax revenue in 2025.
$10,195,126,559: The Gulf Coast region alone reported over $10 billion in travel-related earnings, a 5% increase from 2024.
66,454: The number of people in travel-related employment in Baldwin County, the largest total of any county in the state.
51%: Coosa County took the biggest jump in travel-related earnings, increasing over 50% to $2.25 million.
12: The number of counties to report at least $100 million in travel-related earnings.
$6.65B: Eating and Drinking establishments brought in 27% of the travel and tourism spending in the state in 2025.
