Red Clay Strays play surprise show for Camp ASCCA

Campers and staff at the fourth summer session of Camp ASCCA (Alabama’s Special Camp for Children and Adults) got a big surprise Tuesday night.
Red Clay Strays, the CMA-award winning band from Mobile, returned to the camp for the second time in the last three years for a quick show just before the band’s summer tour begins.
On social media, the organization called it the biggest night in Camp ASCCA history.

What is Camp ASCCA?
Camp ASCCA first started in 1976 and is widely considered one of the best therapeutic recreation camps in the country.
The goal is to provide year-round camping experiences for children and adults with disabilities. The camp has 230 acres on Lake Martin in Alexander City and provides a wide range of activities including:
- Swimming
- Canoeing
- Fishing
- Arts + crafts
- Accessible waterslide
- Zip line
- Water tubing
- Archery
- Mini golf
- Splash pad
- Pickleball
- Nature trails
The Red Clay Strays have made multiple appearances at the camp as a part of the concert series held every summer. The band also played at the camp in 2024.
