Rising Tide: Alabama ranks 4th in latest AP poll
Reading time: 2 minutes

Once all the cigar smoke had cleared this weekend after the Alabama Crimson Tide beat their longtime arch-rival Tennessee Volunteers, the Tide moved up two spots to No. 4 in the latest AP poll.
Thanks to losses by previously undefeated Miami Hurricanes and Mississippi Rebels squads, Alabama was able to continue its upward march toward the top of the poll.
Fun fact about the Tide’s latest six-game win streak? They have defeated four straight ranked opponents, including two in this week’s top 10 — Georgia and Vandy. They’re just the fourth team in the SEC to accomplish that feat and the first to do it in four consecutive weeks.
Only three teams remain ranked ahead of Alabama — Ohio State, Indiana and Texas A&M.
Rounding out the top 10 are:
5) Georgia
6) Oregon
7) Georgia Tech
8) Ole Miss
9) Miami
10) Vanderbilt
Who says last year’s bowl games don’t matter

Two teams in Week 8’s AP ranking football fans thought they would never see simultaneously in the top 10 is Georgia Tech and Vandy.
Who could have predicted, this deep in the season, last year’s Birmingham Bowl opponents would be top ten teams in 2025? It didn’t hurt that both teams retained Heisman candidate QBs Georgia Tech’s Haynes King and Vandy’s Diego Pavia.
It’s a trap — South Carolina

Back to the Tide, their next game is this Saturday against South Carolina in Columbia. The Gamecocks are a disappointing 3-4 this season and coming off a loss to Oklahoma.
Despite their poor record, South Carolina still has all-world QB LaNorris Sellers. The last time they beat Bama was in 2010, when another star SC quarterback Stephen Garcia played the game of his life defeating the defending national champion Crimson Tide 35-21.
Let’s hope the Tide remembers Star War’s Admiral Ackbar’s famous declaration — It’s a trap!
After beating four straight ranked opponents, the Crimson Tide needs to be leery of a letdown.
